Part G: Water Efficiency

Part G of the England and Wales Building Regulations covers water use, sanitation and hot water safety and all new homes and conversions are required to meet the requirements including water efficiency targets. ERS can support you with this.

Although last updated in 2016, the 2015 update included new requirements for water efficiency of 125 litres of water per person per day and an “optional requirement” for improved water efficiency of 110 litres per person per day which can be imposed by the local authority as part of the planning permission for the property.

In practical terms this means that care needs to be taken with the selection of taps, showers, WCs, baths and other appliances to be used.

We are able to complete the water efficiency calculations required for compliance based upon your specification and provide a custom-made report to show compliance with the relevant section of the Approved Document Part G (Section 17K). We would recommend the calculations are completed early in the build process to ensure the proposed fittings will meet these new requirements, avoiding costly replacement.
